3DPrinted Custom Keycaps !!!

3DPrinted Custom Keycaps !!!
coming up for making custom key caps just
that few weeks ago we were chatting with Colin
and he was wondering if it was possible the three print custom key caps 3DPrinted Custom Keycaps !!! for mechanical keyboards so we thought at the meeting a friend in India
so this is a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX switches it features a
customizable layout
an LED backlighting it comes to extra keys which is really nice
but there's a lot of cool stuff we could you buy
the ski caps are held by connector P sits in the center the key and it just
easily snaps on we made these on the
order print photos amber deal pS a late 3-pointer from honored us every printed them and clear
resin
which diffuses the LED's quite nicely all
the size and the ski cap is different
so it's important to take note all the angles and curvatures
because they're kind all different from each other so we start by taking
measurements and the key caps using calipers
than in cab software will draw lips and simple sketches and lock between them to
create the basic shape
we then apply to small fill a 1.25 millimeters to the edges
and a show with the law like this about
matches up with the original key cap
to create the curvature we subtracted oblong cylinder from the top surface
which is just the easy way to create a slight contour said
next up this is a really fun part this is we can make whatever your creativity
allows
so we put together these three custom key caps first up
a skull key with the fam party this is a cola just a test fine details
a command key with the grace symbol so that way we can sort of feel for the key
that voice looking down
and after finally made an escape key with a little a different logo on top
be released the source file see you guys can download and modified to make
whatever you want he's a rather small objects
with some really fine details at probably not collect the law ft in
printer
so you think this is a really good job for our resident taste SL a machine
or and the part and add support structures were using mesh mixer
lay it flat on the front side which has a decent amount of surface area
and this'll make it so the lair stick to the bed the default settings for support
structures tend to generate now on manifold geometry
special and really small parts so we lowered the tip flare-ups
downed

in this will avoid generating anywhere geometry is in
creating supports
who also dropped the tip diameter point three millimeters that it's not so thick
now we create support mathilde come out nice and clean
a few more here on the side of the connector should be enough for it to
print properly
once that's looking good will export STL and uploaded to the printer
so how long does it thanks Brent looking about
minutes to purchase one key
in this is that
micron resolution if you drop it down to
the print action
the print I'm goes
up to about it hour-and-a-half and there really isn't much difference between the
two in the end up getting similar details
now to remove the print from the bed we're going to use a flat spatula and
this will just help release the part from the bill plea
this one just kinda popped off nicely by
to remove the support material user hacker flush nets
in this will help break apart the structures
tweezers also help remove the little tiny bits
and then we'll start from the front and sort of work her way towards the back
that to cure the part will pour on some alcohol over the key cap
in this will help hard in the material making sure that we get the insides as
well
that will cut it down with the paper tell
and will let it dry for about
minutes so that it for the Cure's how about
tolerance testing testing for talent is always sort of a back-and-forth process
adjusting thickness
to get that snap fit so did take a few revisions before getting a solid
cap but there you have it custom 3d printed key caps
you think it'll be a pretty interesting accessibility project in Bosque cast to
work really well for Braille keyboard
am i right he also let us know what you'd like us to build next
and if you're interested in more cadance slicer stuff you get to enter three for
the show
every Thursday if you haven't already please subscribe for more weekly videos
from interfered
guys I'll see you guys next time by many
I
